The old Hanrahan Hotel on Barton, has been many things including an exciting watering hole during prohibition times, with a secret tunnel leading out to the waterfront. Opening in 1909 - it was listed as one of Hamilton's leading hotels. It held a gentleman's club on the first floor and hotel rooms on the top two floors.
Over time, as Barton street became less of a commercial destination, it became a bar, and later on became Hamilton Strip. The building was saved from demolition in 2019 and promises to be transitioned into a one-of-a-kind creative hub.
